These varieties were already known in the first half of the XVIII century (although the Hawaiian coffee was planted on the slopes of the Kona volcano only in the XIX century) and if they kept their fame through the centuries it is because today their quality is guaranteed by a strict processing, just as in the past. The soil is rich in nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus; the coffee plantations are shadowed by other plants, the harvesting works on selective picking and the wet method processing is used.

The Jamaican variety is the only type of coffee which is exported inside wooden barrels weighing about 13 kg. Both the Jamaica and the Kona are known and appreciated by coffee lovers all over the world and despite their high cost (more than 100€ per kg) they are intensely requested and consumed.
