The Chiaroscuro flavoured coffee blends are made of Indian coffees, from the Mysore and Plantation variety. These particularly full-bodied and intense coffees are perfect for aromatisation, as they have a low acidity, which will therefore not reflect on the creamy taste of the flavoured coffee.
The beans are medium-light roasted. Roasting them too dark would make the taste too aggressive and cover the flavouring, while a too light roast would not allow proper aromatization of the beans.
The flavouring takes place by spraying essential oils on the warm beans immediately after roasting. Spraying and subsequent amalgamation of the perfume last about thirty minutes. These essential oils have the great advantage of not hiding the taste of coffee. Their aroma only appears in the aftertaste, leaving a very pleasant sensation in the mouth.
