It was in August 2019 when Helena Oliviero, coffee expert and trainer in our Espresso Academy, and Eleonora Bernini, export manager and granddaughter of the founder Vasco Bernini, did a long journey to Brasil’s plantations. They discovered three areas of cultivation: Espirito Santo, Minas Gerais and the state of São Paulo.
Together with our partners they had the opportunity to visit small and big plantations. Some of the producers are already Mokaflor suppliers, some of them are about to turn into. The aim of this journey was to get a feeling for the on-site working conditions and for the producers´ lives. It was further a possibility to get information about the development of their work to guarantee a high quality level what we see as our highest command.
We want to show you the unbelievable passion and attention the producers Fabricio Campo from Orto and Flavio Sales from Freitos pay to their products! Their plantations are located in the state of Espírito Santo, in the region of Caparaó which is known for its beautiful landscape with a tropical nature and altitude up to more than 2800 metres (for example the Pico da Bandeira, highest point of the Serra do Caparaó, with a hight of 2892 metres).
Eleonora and Helena collected all their impressions to show them to you in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuG_npu23NQ
Fabricio´s plantation “Sitio Pedra Roxa” and Flavio´s “Aromas do Caparaó” are located in the mountainous area “Pedra Roxa” (Red Stone). This name was chosen thanks to the red soil that characterises this zone.
In the video they also talk about the main elements characterizing their coffee. A real specialty!
Have fun with the video!
